Learn About PHP Settings & How To Use It Via The Shared Web Hosting Control Panel
Quick Intro
The PHP Settings tab in the Web Control Panel is a comprehensive solution for managing your domain's PHP configuration. It allows you to change the PHP version for each domain individually and adjust server-level PHP settings such as php_memory
, max_upload
, and others.
Important To Know Before You Begin
Each domain, including subdomains attached to your Web Control Panel, can be configured with its own individual PHP version and settings. You can find all available PHP versions under Development Tools > PHP Settings tab in the Web Control Panel.
Changing the PHP version can significantly impact your website's performance and behavior. We only offer secure and stable PHP versions.
PHP Settings on Our Servers
On our servers, you can manage PHP Extensions for each PHP version individually, which provides greater flexibility and control over your PHP environment. Additionally, these servers use Hardened PHP, allowing us to offer a range of PHP versions from 4.4 to 8.3.
In contrast, standard servers currently support PHP versions 8.1 and 8.2 only. This difference is due to the gradual implementation of new technologies across our servers.
On our servers, PHP settings are applied to the entire hosting account.
Accessing PHP Settings
To access the PHP settings:
- Navigate to Development Tools > PHP Settings in your Web Control Panel.
Managing PHP Settings
Web Host Most provides extensive control over PHP settings at the server level, enhancing functionality and flexibility for your applications.
To manage your PHP settings:
- Navigate to Development Tools > PHP Settings.
- From the drop-down menu, select any PHP option you need to adjust.
- Set it to your required configuration.
- Click Add and then Save to apply the new settings.
If no custom PHP settings are defined, the domain will use the default server settings. This approach ensures that your site operates under the optimal settings unless specific needs dictate otherwise.
Modifying PHP Settings via .htaccess
Besides using the Web Control Panel, you can also modify certain PHP settings via .htaccess
:
Example:
php_flag opcache.enable Off
php_value memory_limit 256M
php_flag display_errors On
php_value post_max_size 20M
php_value upload_max_filesize 50M
This method provides a quick way to apply changes without needing to access the control panel.
Debugging PHP Websites
Using the display_errors
setting in PHP can help you troubleshoot your website more efficiently. This setting can be enabled via the Web Control Panel, allowing you to see errors directly on your website, which speeds up the debugging process.
You can manage your PHP settings through the Web Control Panel. This control provides you with the ability to fine-tune how your website works with the server, enhancing both performance and security. It's a good practice to regularly check and update these settings to meet the changing needs of your website.
