📧 Setting Up Email Forwarders
Forwarders automatically send incoming emails to one or more other Email addresses. The original Email remains on your server.
What Are Forwarders?
When someone emails [email protected], the Email is automatically forwarded to other addresses you specify (like your Gmail or your team members).
The original Email stays on your server - it's also copied to the forwarded address.
Common Uses
| Use Case | Example |
|---|---|
| Distribute to team | Forward yourname@ to multiple team members |
| Consolidate emails | Forward all business emails to personal Gmail |
| Transition addresses | Forward old Email to new Email for 6 months |
| Backup important emails | Forward to archive or backup address |
| Delegate while away | Forward to colleague while on vacation |

Troubleshooting
Emails Not Being Forwarded
Check:
- Forwarder created and active?
- Destination Email address correct? (check spelling)
- Send test Email and wait 5-10 seconds
- Check destination email's spam folder
Forwarding Stopped Working
Check:
- Is forwarder still in the list?
- Did destination Email address bounce/get deleted?
- Is source Email account active?
- Try sending test Email again
Solution:
- Edit forwarder and verify addresses
- Try different destination email
- Contact support if still issues
Emails Going to Spam
Happens when forwarded emails look like spam to receiver:
Fix:
- Enable DKIM on your domain (see Email Server Setup)
- Verify SPF records are correct
- Check spam filters on receiving Email service
Tips & Best Practices
Do:
- Keep original on server (redundancy)
- Test before relying on forwarder
- Document what forwards where
- Remove unused forwarders
- Check both source and destination regularly
Don't:
- Forward sensitive passwords/data
- Create forwarding loops (A→B→A)
- Leave forwarders to deleted emails
- Forget about old forwarders
