How to Reset Account to Default

Sometimes, users may accidentally mess up their files or configurations, leading them to think they need to cancel their entire service plan and start over. However, there's a much faster and simpler way to reset your account to its default state without canceling your plan. This guide will walk you through the steps to achieve this using the WebHostMost Web Control Panel.

Why Reset Your Account?

Resetting your account to its default state can help resolve issues caused by misconfigurations, accidental deletions, or other errors. By resetting, you can restore the default directory structure and files, allowing you to start fresh without needing to cancel and re-create your entire service plan.

Steps to Reset Your Account

Follow these steps to reset your account to default:

  1. Access Your Web Control Panel:

    • Navigate to Web Control Panel (DirectAdmin) > Domain Management > Domain Setup.
  2. Select the Domain to Recreate:

    • In the Domain Setup section, select the domain name you wish to reset.
  3. Delete the Domain:

    • Once the domain is selected, the Delete button will be highlighted. Click Delete.
  4. Confirm Deletion and Remove Web Data:

    • A popup will appear asking you to confirm the deletion. Select the checkbox to Delete Web Data.
    • Click Confirm.
  5. Recreate the Domain:

    • After deleting the domain, simply add the domain name back using the same name. This will automatically recreate the default public_html directory and all related files for that domain.

For detailed steps on how to add the domain name again, refer to our domain setup guide.

SSL Certificate Management

tip

Tip: When you add the domain name back, the SSL certificate will be automatically re-created for the newly assigned domain name, even if it’s the same domain name. The system handles this automatically.

In case the SSL certificate is not issued automatically, you can manually request one. For instructions on how to do this, visit our SSL Management page.

Additional Considerations

  • Email Accounts: If your domain had custom email accounts, you will need to reconfigure them after resetting the domain.
  • Subdomains: Any subdomains associated with the deleted domain will also need to be re-added.
  • DNS Records: Ensure that your DNS records are correctly set up after recreating the domain to avoid any service interruptions.

Conclusion

Resetting your account to default is a quick and effective way to resolve issues without canceling your service plan. By following the steps outlined above, you can restore your account’s default settings and continue managing your web hosting environment smoothly.
