Domain Setup & Multiple Domain Management
Quick Intro
This manual will walk you through the process of setting up, managing, and renaming your domains using WebHostMost’s Web Hosting Control Panel. Whether you’re setting up a single domain, managing multiple domains, or renaming an existing domain, you’ll find all the information you need here.
Understanding Domains
Domains uniquely identify you on the Internet. They consist of a name and an extension (e.g., "dogfood.com"). Before using a domain, you must register it. If a domain is already owned by someone else, it cannot be registered by you.
Important Information Before You Begin
-
Domain Registration: Learn how to register your Domain Name here.
-
Domain Transfer: If you've registered a domain with another registrar and wish to transfer it to us, find out how here.
-
Using Existing Domains: To use our Web Hosting Services while keeping your domain registered with another provider, ensure the Nameservers (NS) records point to us:
- NS1: ns1.server1.webhostmost.com
- NS2: ns2.server2.webhostmost.com
- NS3: ns3.server3.webhostmost.com
- NS4: ns4.server4.webhostmost.com
Setting your domain’s Nameservers to these values ensures proper routing of web traffic through our servers.
Setting Up A New Domain Name In Your Web Control Panel
Whether you’re setting up a single domain or multiple domains, the process is simple. Follow these steps to add a new domain to your control panel:
- Navigate to Domain Management > Domain Setup > Create Domain.
- Enter your domain name in the Domain field.
- Click Create.
Once the domain is set up, you can manage it directly from the Web Control Panel.
Managing Multiple Domains
If your service plan supports multiple domains (Pro or Ultra plans), you can manage each domain independently:
- File Management: Each domain has its own directory within the
public_html
folder, allowing you to keep content for different sites separate. - Email Accounts: Set up unique email addresses for each domain.
- DNS Management: Control DNS settings individually for each domain.
- SSL Certificates: Assign SSL certificates to each domain for secure browsing.
When adding multiple domain names, follow the same steps outlined in the Setting Up A New Domain Name In Your Web Control Panel section above.
Pro Tip: Our system automatically generates the public_html
folder and all necessary subdirectories for each newly created domain and subdomain. These folders are independent of one another, making it easy to manage each domain separately. All folders are located under the following path:
File Manager > ./domains/yourdomain.com/public_html
Service Plan Limitations
- 125Mb Free Hosting: Limited to 1 domain name.
- Micro Plan: Limited to 1 domain name.
- Pro Plan: Unlimited domain names can be assigned.
- Ultra Plan: Unlimited domain names can be assigned.
If you’re using the 125Mb Free Hosting or Micro Plan, you’ll need to upgrade to the Pro or Ultra Plan to host multiple domains under one service account.
How to Rename an Existing Domain Name
If you need to rename an existing domain, follow these steps:
- Navigate to Web Control Panel > Domain Management > Domain Setup.
- Find and click on the Rename Domain button.
- Select the domain you wish to rename from the list.
- Type the new domain name in the provided field (e.g.,
newdomainname.com
). - Click Save to apply the changes.
Important: If you are renaming a free subdomain offered by WebHostMost, make sure to type the full domain name, including the subdomain. For example, if your current domain is mydomain.freewebhostmost.com
, the new domain must be formatted as renameddomain.freewebhostmost.com
.
SSL Certificate Re-Issue: After renaming your domain, you may need to manually re-issue the SSL certificate for the new domain name. For instructions on managing and re-issuing your SSL certificate, visit our SSL Management page.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
If you encounter any issues during domain setup, renaming, or management, consider these tips:
- Check Plan Limits: Ensure you’re on a Pro or Ultra plan if you need to host multiple domains.
- DNS Configuration: Verify that your domain’s DNS records are correctly configured.
- Domain Availability: Ensure the domain name you want to add or rename is registered and not already assigned to another account.
